Metropolitan Division of Public Safety, Inc. (MDPS) is seeking “qualified” and “professional” security officer candidates for future positions in the Houston, TX, metro area. Level 2 Officer with reliable transportation needed.
Applicants MUST meet all the following minimal conditions.
On call contractor positions available (Full time, Part time)
Qualifications:
- MUST BE ACTIVELY COMMISSIONED
- Must possess a High School Diploma equivalent
- Must be either United States citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction and two (2+) years verifiable security experience.
- Must not have been convicted of, or pled guilty or nolo contendere to, a criminal offense in any state, territory district of the United States or foreign country, that would exclude you from obtaining/maintaining a Security Guard License – clean criminal background investigation
- Must have Reliable Transportation
- Cell Phone with GPS or have GPS capabilities
- Must be able to speak and write in the English language with clarity and proper grammar and spelling
- Must have a clean Driving Record. DRIVE HISTORY as condition of employment. (If required)
- Surveillance Skills
- Must have the ability to deal with uncertainty, exercise good judgment, and emotional control & objectivity.
- MUST BE DEPENDABLE
- Must maintain safety management and high-level of professionalism.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patrols, monitor, and investigation of client property via assigned patrol vehicle or foot patrol.
- Respond safely to client alarm activations, calls for service, escorts, etc.
- Monitor surveillance cameras, inspect property, and monitor crowds.
- Monitor premises to prevent theft, violations, or infractions of rules.
- Thoroughly examine doors, windows, and gates to ensure proper function and security
- Warn violators of premise rules and regulations.
- Reasonably apprehend/detain persons engaged in suspicious or criminal acts.
- Report any facility issues such as fire hazards, water hazards, or any maintenance concerns
- Be able to write concise and accurate reports with property spelling and grammar.
- Report criminal or suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
Prior employment, criminal and credit history (if applicable) will be verified. Drug Testing mandatory.
Required Skills/Abilities
- Excellent observational skills and attention to detail
- Authoritative verbal communication skills
- Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations
- Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Security Officer – Level 2 with 2+ years’ experience
- Prior law enforcement or military experience preferred
License/Certification
- Active Texas Level 2 Security License (Commission Hard Card Required)
- Valid Driver’s License
